Hello everyone!
It's that time of year where every shop owner wonders how they are going to get the word out about their shop because they know that if someone at least saw their work that they would love it!
Well, I had an idea that we could do a shop swap and blog! Basically this is where you send your partner something from your shop, along with some information about it by mail, and they in turn blog about the experience!
Sign-up for the swap is from September 6, 2009, to September 30, 2009 (12am) When swaps sign-up is closed forms will no longer be accepted, and partners will be assigned along with their mailing information.
All packages should be sent out by October 30, 2009
So this is how it works...
You have the choice of either one or two partners, please use wise judgment, because this is a commitment.
You can either stay within your region to ship, or you can ship internationally
*If I have left anything out, or if you have any questions please let me know so I can address them.
{Shop Swap Package}
-Please include at LEAST one product sample or item from your shop. There will be no value limit, but please keep in mind that the goal is to make your shop look as wonderful as you know it is! (you know your shop best so please use your own judgment)
-Include a note with the following information (for the blog post)
Online Shop Address
Blog Address
Facebook Fan page url (Optional)
A bit about yourself
What made you start your buisness
What you plan to accomplish with your buisness
What you get most out of having your own buisness
Your favorite independently owned online shop
Email address (so your partner can let you know when the blog post is up)
Any upcoming shop promotions (Optional)
Everything else is left to your discretion. A few ideas of what you could possibly include.... promotional button or magnet, buisness cards (maybe more than one so they can give them to friends who may be interested), a discount, you could even offer to host a giveaway on their blog!!
GET CREATIVE! We all know you are :D
{ Blog It! }
After receiving the package from your swap partner(s), take the information used from their interview notes to make a blog post.
Include pictures of your package before and after opened!
Make their shop look as good as you would like yours to. And, if you have two partners, please do two separate posts for each partner. We already share so much, let's not share this :)
Once again, be creative and have fun!!!
{Restrictions}
In order to participate...You should have a blog, otherwise you cannot blog about the item you have received
You must have an online shop (artfire, etsy, bigcartel...etc) that provides a product
You have 30 days to send out this swap after sign-up is closed. If you are having any trouble after this point please let someone know so we can help!
Swap Sign-up Form! Please tell as many people as you like :) The more the merrier!
Hi there, Just wanted to let you know that I am now following your blog. This is for the blog swap on swap-bot. My name on there is marcsgrl.
ReplyDeleteHullo! I also subscribed to your blog through the blog swap on swap bot. I am also kinda interested in this swap, but there's a few things on at the mo, so I'll think about it for a bit longer! Thanks for inviting me, anyways!
ReplyDeleteHi Pattie,
ReplyDeleteI would love to join your swap on Swapbot, I think it's a great idea to promote your own shop and get to know others. I never did a swap before but I got a account on Swapbot. When I join the swap do I receive information to who and were I have to send my product and information? And when do I receive this information?
Esther
Thank you for asking Essie!
ReplyDeleteOn SWAP BOT after sign-up is closed you will receive an email notification that lets you know who your partner is and when you go to the site and click on the swap page itself there will be a link that says "view partners"
There you will be able to see who your partners are, and it will provide you with their address and email information
And thank you again for the interest hope to see you there!
Thank you Pattie, I'll join!!
ReplyDeletei'm in too! off to sign up on swap bot!

I know, for example, that many people crochet. Is there any way to make sure that the swap partner doesn't already do the same things that you do? That could be difficult though.
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely going to monitor things like that, but in the sign-up form you can add little specifics such as that
ReplyDeleteBut, I'll will certainly keep that in mind so that there will be more diversity :)
This sounds great, I'm in!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I'll be signing up.
ReplyDeleteThank you both!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sending me this info through Etsy. I have signed up, it sounds like fun!!

ReplyDeleteI think it sounds fun, too, but want to think about it a bit. I'm leaning toward yes.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like fun. I've committed myself to some big holiday wholesale orders so I'm not sure that I'll be able to participate this time. Maybe next time.

ReplyDeletei signed up! thanks so much! i'm excited & will be passing this on!!!
ReplyDeletereally cool idea! i'm contemplating signing up, but i'm so busy as it is. I had a question... youd said "at least one item from your shop" is it fine to make new items for the swap?
ReplyDeleteAlso, would you like to be interviewed for my blog? My blos has a very small readership, but I love this idea and would love to share it with other people.
Artful Unity, it is most definitely fine to make a new item for the swap! As long as it is something that represents your shop :)
ReplyDeleteAnd, I would love to do an interview for your blog, that sounds like fun!
Fabulous idea! I've just signed up!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea. Thanks for the convo on etsy. Hopefully I can gather my thoughts for the interview questions.
