Or something like that lol.

Just recently I got the urge to really get up and make something. To be perfectly honest, it has been a while since I have been hit this hard with a need to create. The craziest part is that what I have the urge to do is totally left field of my current work.

By that I mean it isn't as playful and colorful, but I still really like what I'm doing :)

Now, I just need to get my thoughts organized with my schedule and I'll be in the house!!

Because I don't want to run into my usual problem of falling behind and than not being able to get things accomplished in a reasonable time frame.

Well, to say the least I was impressed but still unable to do either for different reasons, BUT low and behold a door opened ! Now, I can have virtual parties and private sales! I'm so excited :D

My little daughter pumpkin is officially one today! I am so happy :D I just can't believe it has been a year since she was born!

We plan of throwing a her a little party on the third so everyone will be back in town after thanksgiving :)

One of the main things that concerns me is that I haven't really documented anything for my daughter as she has gotten older. I want to have the memories, but I can't seem to find the time (or energy) to put anything together.

So, when MyMemories contacted me about a digital scrapbook I was ecstatic! I was able to simple choose a theme and the pictures that I wanted and they were aromatically entered into the pages :D You can also work from scratch, but that feature wasn't for me lol

And, let me just be the first to say that I can't stand scrapbooking because it is just so tedious and time consuming! But, this was easy fast and simple :D

I plan to have the album completed before her birthday party so that I can give everyone a CD. I'm going to add some of the videos that I recorded of her, which is awesome!

Fear Filled Ambitions

Often in everyday life as well in my business endeavors I want SO MUCH but can only imagine so little. Almost everyday at least twice a day I have a great idea, but before the day is out I find every reason under the sun why it just can't happen.
Either I don't have the time, funds, following or expertise...blah blah BLAH!

On the other side of the spectrium if everything is "okay" I stand around waiting for the right persons approval (whoever that is) and when it doesn't come or any one person tells me I can't do it or that it isn't a good idea, I throw it out.

Sadly it doesn't take much to demotivate an idea for many of us, because we are always working with fear filled ambitions.
Fear that it won't work, that the idea will be rejected, fear that our idea will take off!!

Sometimes you have to get yourself to a point where you have to say enough is enough!!!
I'm no longer going to use my excuses as a crutch to stand on, because at the end of the day I have to live my life and live with my choices.

So don't fall victim to your fears and insecurities, break out of the box that says you can't do it!

Sure, it will take planning and maybe more time than you anticipated, but in the end you will be that much happier you went ahead and went after your great idea, project or whatever it is you want to do :)

Getting Excited For Thanksgiving!!

Thanksgiving is right around the corner and I am super pumped to get to the yummies!! This will be the first year that I actually contribute a dish to the thanksgiving feast with the family, so I am extra EXTRA antsy to get to work! I am not too sure on what I will be making but, rest assured that it will be DELICIOUS :D

Another thing to be happy about this coming thanks giving is, that I have so much to be thankful for.

When I was younger I love LOVED to play with fake food! I would dream up all kinds of outrageously spectacular occasions with my sister and we would have a blast :D
My memories of having a tea party or pretending to cater a masquerade ball are cherished moments, and that is something that I would like to share with my own daughter. I really want to grow her imagination and since of adventure!

A little while back I found this great shop called Milk~fly that sells amazing (and very realistic) felt foods! I ADORE everything they sell there :) It is me getting super-duper excited for when my daughter gets older and can play with toys like that!

Shop Talk: The Newsletter

I'm at a loss.
My website features a newsletter sign-up, and since it has been there I have 2 subscribers + 14 family members that I signed up ~~against their will~~, so they could forward some to their friends. With that in mind I have found myself at a cross-roads, I'm somewhat feeling like, what's the point??

Plus, every time I sit down to really make a newsletter I am a complete blank slate! Should I make a newsletter plan, should I have planned campaigns only?? I suppose I need to find some purpose and function before I run with the seemingly great idea...
I just don't want people to be signed-up and than one day out of the blue they get a newsletter and it's been so long that they don't even remember subscribing!

I suppose this must have just been a rant to myself more than anything. I need to get up and get moving!

One of the interesting features of this new site is that while showcasing your items, you can also opt to sell them as well!?! I thought it was cool and odd at the same time, they don't have a listing fee or transaction fee because it works by the principle of the pay-pal button. Something cool to try maybe :)

Sign-in is done through facebook...at first I was a bit apprehensive about the whole process but than I got over it lol

Birthday on a Budget!

My daughter is turning one this month and I want to do something special for her. As a child I never had a birthday party or celebration of sorts but I would really like to share the excitement of those types of moments with my daughter :)
Plus, though my immediate family have all met my little one, the rest of my family have all but been left in the dark.

That being said I want for everyone to finally meet her but my budget is super duper tight. Sadly, even if I had a dream budget I wouldn't know what I would need to do. I just don't know the proper ingredients that make a successful party (less we re-live the engagement party...)

I know she will only be one and very likely not remember anything from that day I still want it to be something special to look back on.

So anyway!
I went ahead and collected some images of inspiration to look to when I go ahead and start putting my ideas to work.

A Picnic!

Today, I was at a bit of a lose of what to blog about when I remembered that a little while ago my sister her guy, me and my fiance went for a picnic right before Fall hit.
So I searched my computer to see if I had any pictures and VIOLA!

It ended up taking place much later than I would have personally liked, but I had fun and we ate well :D

My sister set everything up, she loves making a big deal out of everything, and this was no exception! I thought she put quite a bit of effort into the design of the whole event.

As for food, we had kettle chips, fried chicken, prosciutto, and lots of other goodies! To say the least by the end of the night I was feeling royally spoiled, and stuffed to boot (and there is nothing wrong with that!).

At the end of the night everyone had a toast (but me, cause I don't drink) and we said goodnight.
Hopefully we can picnic again in the daytime :)

Working With What I've Got #2

I try not to get through the roof personal on my blog just because that isn't what it is for. But, what'eves!

Lately I have been getting out of the house more often, which is super nice! I am a work at home mom so I am pretty much a home body and spend most of my days fighting cabin fever.

My style is very expressive of my personality and I like it that way, but sometimes things people do or say can get under my skin. But, when the only people you see day to day are the ones that make you feel the worst at the end of it, there is something that has to change.

I realize that being a mother doesn't automatically make me some super human capable of taking on the world without a flinch. But I do want to exude a confidence around my daughter that she can draw from. I don't want to have to fight to defend who I am or why I am me to everyone.

I know that I'm not perfect, and there will always be things that I can change, but the core pieces of my personality will always be the same and I would rather own them instead of working through an obnoxious reason why I am who I am.

That's all I guess, I suppose I had to get it off my chest in a more concrete way.

I had the privilege of meeting up with Mienkintosh Fairie a couple of days ago and she was wearing one of her promotional bows. I thought it was just too cute and adorable!!

I probably looked crazy running to get my camera to take some pics of her wearing it, but I knew I wanted to share them on my blog :)

She wore the black lotus on red sea bow, it was ornately quilted and surprisingly, it wasn't super floppy at all! There is a wide variety of bows available in the shop to choose from and she is always adding new products!

The other day, I suppose that I did something she deemed silly because she looked at me, shook her head and said, "Oh, wow!"

She is growing so fast, I don't know what to think about it. I'm excited but also somewhat sad to see her little baby faze go.

Hopefully I will be able to throw her a small little birthday party with the family :)

The three totes above use heavy cotton bodies and the accent fabric for the pocket, bottom and handles is actually 100% silk from Candice Olsen's fabric line. Using high quality fabric is important to me, because I want the bags to last a long time :)

Shop Talk: Packaging

I have literally been wondering how to package my tags and envelope combination for months now! Well, a few days ago I was packing some things to show my sister and I put the envelopes in one of my tins and the light bulb went on :D

So that is what I'm working with so far! I am still using the old logo stickers b/c I have to use them (that is money!!) all before I go ahead and use the new ones :)

I thought these would be cool to put on gifts and add a personal note to them as well. I don't really know when I will add these to the shop but hopefully before the end of the month.

I don't have very many clothes so I try to pair whatever I can together so it doesn't look like I'm wearing the same thing over and again.
The good news in all of this is that my awesome sister gave me one of her dresses the other day, and I had a new piece to add to my little wardrobe!!

Just a little heads up, I'm camera awkward...I like to stay behind the camera, not in front of it lol

These pics were taken outside the church (by my guy to be) while we were waiting for our pre-marital counselor to show up :)

As you can read above, most of my clothes are either hand-me-downs or given to me as gifts! I just don't have the money to buy clothes myself, but I am always grateful for the ones I do have :D Though I do buy ALL my own stockings!! (Winning!)

I thought this was kind of fun so I added it lol The light caught me in all kinds of weird places in the picture...wow!

Earlier in 2009 I had a massive financial fallout and an all around breakdown in morale. So in that my swap-boting suffered and I just stopped so that I wouldn't absolutely desimate my rating.

But, after hearing about the great stories of swapping from my sister and from my friend Mienkintosh Fairie I had to go check out the site again...

Well, one thing led to another and, I'm in two swaps!
Right now I'm looking at maybe one major mail swap a month considering that my fiance never wanted me to swap again (hee hee).

The other day I was fortunate enough to stumble upon Lemon Bird Jams, a deliciously delightful online store that features mouthwatering images that will make you want to lick the screen!!

I can't believe it has been this long :D She has grown so much and completely changed my world in the best way possible!!

I honestly can say that I never knew being a mother could be so fulfilling, even in the hard times :)

The Wedding is Postponed.

Simply put, we just don't have the funds for a wedding right now, we hope to be able to get married sometime in March. Though nothing is concrete at this point.

In some ways I'm actually relived that it isn't happening now, because the whole process was just draining and downright depressing. Nothing was what I wanted it to be and a few other things too...
Hopefully this go round will be better and I can actually be excited about the prospect of a wedding day :)

Time for the weekend!

This weekend I really don't have any concrete plans but I do know I'll be able to eat out with my fiance for the first time in a while :) Our anniversary was on the 3rd and we are finally going to be able to celebrate it this weekend!

Shop Talk: Fall Line-up!!

I'm super excited because now that the website is finally up I can have release dates, and product launches (just something I have always looked forward to!). So, since Fall is practically here I have decided to hold off on posting a few bags to my shop so that I can add them with my up and coming designs pulled from some of my past work!

Do you remember the Michelle Blu bag?? Well, it is coming back to my line-up with a few minor changes, like the addition of inside pockets and top closure! I'm also doing a smaller spin-off of this design that I'm very excited about!!

I'm also going to be bringing in a brand spanking new tote bag design! I'm very excited to get it all set and ready to go :D

I'm so super excited about all of the things to come in the future so stay tuned in to see what will be happening next!

Working with her has been so enjoyable she has such a great vision and her product work is outrageously precise (in a good way)!

Yesterday I found out that Blogging Your Way starts next month and registration is now!! I love blogging and really want to be a better more organized blogger (and maybe one day write a book?!) But, as reasonable as the $129 dollar fee is I can't afford it right now.

Really, right now I'm having trouble affording enough food for over 150 ppl (BBQ anyone??) destined to grace my wedding (which isn't really a bad thing).

I've been thinking about soliciting to my sisters and brothers for help getting the money together (which will hurt soo much in the future under the right circumstances), but truly I just don't know. It's just that I have all these ideas and plans, but they won't mean anything or go very far with out consistence and proper execution!

I just want to make the best move for my future, and right now I can't afford to make (to many) mistakes.

I don't know about you, but Fall has been heavy on my mind lately. I mean seriously, I need to get ready for a wardrobe change!

Right now my closet is looking a little sad when it comes to clothes of any sort, and that is going to have to change! I have had my eye on a few pieces that I feel really exude how I would like to look this fall :)

Finding Inspiration...

Usually inspiration isn't something that I set out looking for, but recently my sister showed me her amazing inspiration/self-building notebook, and I was blown away!
It was full of pictures, great articles and little side notes that made you want to just get up and do something!

So, I thought to myself, this is something that I think I might want to do. I set out and bought a notebook with some type of sticky photo paper on the inside, and I was set!

I invited my sister over to my office, b/c I was sure she would want to get in on some on the inspiration action (plus all the magazines I have access to lol). It was a little short notice or more people would have come too :D

We got a couple of mags and marked the pages that we liked so we could come back and see if we wanted to cut them out :)

Than we cut out what we wanted and came up with a strategy to get it on the paper, at least that is what I did lol

In the end I was actually pretty happy with the outcome :) I surprised myself a little bit!

And, just in case you were wondering, little baby pumpkin sat and played on the sidelines while all this was going on :)

All in all it was very enjoyable, and I want to try and do things like this more often. I love getting together with people and doing things!! So I guess I need to start making some plans :)

It's Finally Here!!!

It has been quite a long journey but I finally made it. What I'm feeling right now is so hard to express, but I am glad that I kept going and working toward my goal.

Big Life Changes To Come

So much has changed in my life lately and now that I have more of a clear path of where I want to be, I plan on going full force into it.

So!

Yesterday I spent editing images and posting loading them into my shopping cart tool! It was tedious and repetitive, but worth the effort. Sometimes it gets to me how I have to do EVERYTHING for my business. I'm always asking my fiance for help and he always says "sure, what do you need help with" I never know what to tell him...bleh

Today, I have been really focused on packaging and production. I keep thinking to myself, so what happens if I sell something??

A bit of news I have!!

In this (seemingly) long journey to open the doors to my very own online business I have decided to turn away from failing method of rushing and throwing whatever I've got out there. This go around I am taking it slow and steady :)

And, on top of that I plan to share more of my journey with you all (which is what this blog is all about anyway :P )

Good news!

I won 250 flyers from UPrinting at the blogguide.com blog (amazing blog btw)!!! The only thing is that I have been debating if I should use them for my wedding invitations since my budget is a quarter of what it once was...I'm just seriously unsure of what I should do, POOPSIES!

And!! Completely apart from that is I seem to be getting more and more ideas and fewer results **grrr** My time is already cut to the bone b/w my family, hygiene and staying on top ofall my social media "obligations," but what is a girl to do?

P.S. there seems to be a bit of talk of making the invites by hand.....for 150 ppl ARE YOU NUTS!!!

I'm oh so very happy to finally have my own space to work on my business :)

In the past my craft/work space has shared space with my bedroom and even within the confines of a small bookshelf (not my best experience).

But, after my fiancee (was convinced) decided that he didn't use his gaming room too often it was settled!!

Yesterday I ventured to Marietta to meet up with the owner of fantasy bridal make-up artistry for my wedding trial run!
I was recommended to her through a mutual friend and I'm so happy that I was!
She is so nice and I absolutely LOVED what she did for me :D

I'm not a make-up person but I just felt so pretty PLUS it was light not cakey (which was my last make-up experience)

All in all I'm starting to feel much more bridal (outside of the everyday drama) I'm excited!!

Well if you have popped by SC site or if you frequent the facebook fan page (yes, still saying fan page) you may have noticed one big change!!

My logo :D Yep, I'm in the process of re-branding.

And, as you all "should" know my old website host has begun to dissolve their program...bleh. So I have been working hard to bring forth a GREAT functional easy navigation site.

There is a lot going on and as usual when that happens my blog seems to hit the snooze button....(bad pattie, I know.) Well I'm working on that!

I love getting mail that isn't junk!

I ordered my brother a book from shutter fly for his anniversary with pictures that I took of him and his girlfriend at the park:)

I also got a little flyer printed out for the Structured Chaos online store!! More on that later, some exciting news ahead :D

And, I got some test cards from moo.com (they were free with free shipping for 10) I actually wasn't a big fan of the way my pics came out so I'm going to go with UPrinting :)

Shop Talk: It's Hip to be a Square!

As a small business owner you're always looking for the next big thing that will help you soar, and today have I found it!

While lurking around the Creative Breakroom I mayhapsed upon a thread about a product that allowed you to accept credit cards for one small non-increasing fee. It all sounded interesting enough so I check out the site link.

Well let me just say what I found blew me through the roof (I'm easily excited lol)! It is an app based around touch phones and pads that allows you to accept all major credit cards ANY and EVERYWHERE for a flat fee of 2.75% per swipe and that is all, the money goes straight into your account so no extra processing fee either. And, that means if you have a $25 purchase they will take only $0.69 of it no more no less.
To accept the cards you need to have the little square card reader which you can get after signing up on squareup.com and you don't need a merchant account to do so. Anyone can get a square for everyday social purposes : ) The good news is that it is free of charge no shipping or handling and you won't be charged anything unless the product is used.

My favorite part is that if money is to be refunded they return the 2.75% to the consumer so you don't have to give money you never had :D

One con I did find is that the device is only available to Americans at this time, but payments can be accepted from anywhere on the globe that you are!

The interface in constantly growing and the capabilities are endless. Just make sure you read all of the terms and rules as well as the frequently asked questions to ensure that this product fits your needs and specifications.

So lately on all of the cool wedding magazines that I have been seeing**pops bridal collar** have these little codes that they tell you to scan with your phone...seeing as I don't have a phone I wanted to know what I was missing out on.

And, what did I find but QR-Codes
They can be used to make messages, place emails, send you to site pages and more!!

It sounds super exciting, and I'm certain it could be used by the independent business owner in a fun and innovative way :D

The best part is that they are FREE WHOOO!!

Mother's Day Was Nice...

This was my first mothers day, and I enjoyed every moment of it!
I was served heart shaped pancakes and fried eggs by my fiance :D

And, than he took me to see my mommy!!
I hadn't been to her house for maybe over two months and so it meant a great deal to me to be able to go see her :)

So a bit ago I thought to myself..."Hey! Maybe I can try and make a different type of necklace :D" So I set out to buy some chain when, for who knows what reason (it was the price :P )I completely switched gears and bought this wire necklace type thing instead...
Well, when I received it in the mail I completely spaced on what exactly to do with it, I was stumped for months (yes I said months). Until just a few days ago when I fell into slump and just wanted something to do. So I decided to try and figure out something to do with the wire necklaces, and somehow I came up with an idea!

Just glue anything anywhere and see what happens :D
Fortunately it worked, yippee!

Well hello again!

I have been so busy lately with wedding things that everything else seems to have slipped from under me...

I have been planning my engagement party, calling and booking spaces and finalizing things. I really don't see how people have the time to do it all in such a short amount of time...hmm

I was supposed to have my engagement pictures done this Saturday but it rained on my parade....booo, maybe next time.

Oh and don't worry, you all will be the first to see all of the picture goodness!

So I actually changed my dress, I know before I was so gun-ho on the red one, but when I saw this one, it blew it out of the window...

It is a part of the Vera Wang White Collection at David's Bridal (a place I never thought I would get a dress from)

So because of this my colors have changed, and I'm liking it even more! It is so me :D I put together this little board showing what everyone in my little entourage will wear. So the bridesmaids will wear the claret dresses, and the maid of honor will wear the oyster dress. And the flower girl will wear the black dress :)

So last night I bought this machine on ebay with money I definitely didn't have, and am now feeling a little scared. The machine I have now is one of those, "I just picked this up at target" machines, and doesn't get the job done with some of my thicker bags, so I haven't been able to complete them...

I'm just hoping this was a good investment, or else I'm going to know about it....crossing my fingers!

So a few days sgo I found out that my personal webhost was somewhat dissolving to rebuild. This is a well and good but their rebuild doesn't seem to include a plan that I can afford...aka free...

So I have served myself an eviction notice and have been hard at work putting together a new site.

Did you know that I have over 200 pages to my site now...I suppose that is what happens when you're always working on it but it is never finished...bleh

This time I will finish though, for sure. I because I just can't justify staying at my cargoh shop. It is great there and all but, seriously I want my work on my own site that I can proudly promote!

I wanted to create things that looked texturally organic, or "loved-to-death," and communicated a little bit of my soul to other people.

Selling my work gave me an open arena to share what I'm making with anyone and everyone. I'm also extremely shy about what I make, so it gave me an open space to see if anyone else liked it without having to walk up to family, friends and coworkers every 10 minutes going "hey, look what I made..." Apparently, that gets weird after a while...

What is the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for you?
Ummmmm.... that's a tough one.

My husband is incredibly sweet, and recently, he remade our bed, which was just amazing after the day I had. My boss also bought me a stuffed animal that was destined to be destroyed due to a slight defect (which would have broken my heart....)
People actually have been doing a lot of nice things for me lately. I need to reflect on my blessings more often...

What would you like for people to take from your work?
I want people to look at what I make and feel some small part of themselves shift or change for the better. Some of my work highlights what can be done with next to nothing, and I'm continually developing that part of what I do, because I feel that it's the most difficult, and also the most in demand due to the current economy.
So from those pieces, I would love to bring about a sort of empowerment or gratefulness in the observer in regards to what they can do with what they already have.

And then some of what I consider my "art" reflects more of just me and the strange mix of a person I am... understated drama with an organic feel... not a hippie mama, but definitely not living in a high-rise in any city... I love art, but I'm not standing in front of an oil painting of some guy in a museum...

What is your favorite quote?
"Well, how'd you lose him? It's not as though he's a set of car keys now, is he?" Brick Top in Snatch. Always makes me smile when I'm looking for my car keys..

Lovely Story - Willow on the Water

I've long wondered if we grow into our names. I loved growing up with the (then) unusual name of Willow. I notice too that willow trees always grow near water. And I have to live near water. I don't have to be able to see it daily, but knowing that it is near enough that if I need to, I can go easily to it and, even better, put my toes in... it's a requirement for me.

Good thing I married a Navy man!
We've moved from coast to coast and now, once again live on an island. I love coastal living. The smell of salt water, the cry of seagulls and the sound of waves crashing.

Being married to a military service member means that more often than not, our loved one will not be home on holidays.

But instead of bemoaning the fact, we celebrate when we can.
So in 1999, we pretended that Valentine's Day fell on February 12th, since my husband was leaving on the thirteenth. We had a wonderful dinner at a local restaurant that we had been wanting to try, but the cost was definitely in the "special occasion" category.

As romantic evenings are what to do, we enjoyed not only the dinner and wine, wink wink... and wouldn't you know it, 42 weeks later our second daughter was born.
A child we had given up hope of having. Our little one was grossly over due, and just after I delivered her, the doctor commented that I was fortunate. I was the ONLY mother on the floor and just days before, every bed had been filled. I looked at him to see if he was truly oblivious to the reason.
After noting his blank stare, I asked him to think back "nine months". Nothing.

So I smiled and reminded him - Valentine's Day.

Willow on The Water is entirely inspired by my dream of living in a cottage by the sea. Not everything will be coastal/beach/water related, but rather inspired.

Going-out Ideas!

Whether with your friends, family, or a loved one Valentine's Day can be lots of fun and for very little money :)

Here are some ideas that I have gathered together for you all, enjoy!

-Take a charged labtop, drive out to a park and watch a movie under the stars. Bring a blanket and some snacks!

-Get out and have a snowball fight, and if it's warm enough grab some water balloons and do some damage :p

-Go to your local mall or shopping plaza and have a scavenger hunt. Take silly pictures w/the people and store workers, have fun! (I've done this with friends, and its a blast!)

-Impromptu photo-shoots are always nice! Get dressed and go somewhere nice, jump around, pose and whatever else! Than print the pics you like :)

-Play tag!

What happened to today's post right? Well, it's a long story that I will not trifle you all with...but I assure you that I will double up tomorrow so that we can stay on schedule :)

If you are an etsy user, I suggest that you stay abreast of the goings on lately. It seems there is some really low dirty things happening. Shops are being closed and people silenced as well as policy changes! Because I am not a seller there don't necessarily know the ins and outs but if it has leaked down to a simple buyer like me, it truly must be something going on.

Knowledge is power after all, and I want you all to KNOW what you are a part of so you can choose for yourself which direction you would like to take :)

Tutorial: Lovely Butterfly with Sammie

I’m a teacher and mother of 3 little girls. I have 3 year old twins and my baby is turning 2.

Scrapbooking has been my hobby for the last 20 years. It is especially so now that I have 3 little girls to photograph and document.

I started making cards and birthday invitations about 6 months ago and opened up my online shop, Stitches and Scraps, around that time.
My girls love to “help” with my cards and scrapbooking, so this was a fun project that they could help with. All their grandparents will be getting a set of butterflies for Valentine’s Day.

I hope you enjoy making these with your child, and I would love for you to stop by and visit my shop.

This sweet little hand-print butterfly will make the perfect gift from a child to a loved one. It is a great way to keepsake those cherished little hand-prints.

Materials: (for 1 butterfly)
2 - 4” die cut hearts
1 – 12” pipe cleaner
12” twine (I used colored baker’s twine.)
Glue dots
Red glue tape (something very strong)
Glue runner
Acrylic paint
Assorted buttons
2 – silly eyes
Scissors
Paintbrush
White cardstock

Directions:

1. Use a paint brush to apply pink acrylic paint to your child’s hands. Firmly press the hand onto the white cardstock and remove. I found if the fingers were together and the thumb slightly separated it mimicked the shape of a wing.

2. Once the hand-prints are dry cut them out.

3. Lay the hand prints face up on your work surface with the thumbs facing down. Lay the heart on top and adjust the hands until you get the desired look. Run a couple strips of glue on the heels of the hand-prints to hold the heart in place.

4. Choose your color of buttons and line them up down the mid-line of the heart. Use a larger button at the top as a head and then get gradually smaller as you go down.

5. Once you have them arranged like you want them use glue dots to adhere them to the heart.

6. Cut a 12” pipe cleaner in half. Take one of the 6” sections and fold it in half. You can use
your fingers to curl the ends if you would like.

7. Use a strip of the red glue tape to adhere the pipe cleaner to the center of the heart as shown. You will also use a glue dot to attach the ends of your 12” twine to the back of the heart.

8. Take the second heart and apply glue to one side. Be sure to get the edges all the way around. Attach this heart to the back of your butterfly. Press the edges firmly

9. The last step is to use glue dots to apply silly eyes to the butterfly’s head. This gives the butterfly a little personality.

If you take a look at the two finished butterflies you will notice a difference in antennae. If a child is doing the assembly the wire antennae is a little harder to shape and apply. We found the pipe cleaners were a lot easier to cut and bend. They come in fun colors too.

The sweetest thing...that's a tough one!
Well, once my boyfriend surprised me on our anniversary weekend (that in itself was sweet!), and he also had the whole weekend planned - horseback riding through the hills and farms, relaxing by a lovely hotel pool, eating at the cutest little hole-in-the-wall cafe, and shopping in little, local shops.
The weekend wrapped up with him giving me a cute little bee necklace I had been wanting from Etsy for the longest time! I know, all a little bit cliche, but sweet none-the-less!

Dearly Beloved: Atlanta Bridal Extravaganza

Hello all :D

I am so happy to report that I attended my first bridal event! I feel so bridal now...and a little overwhelmed.

There is so much to do and I'm realizing more and more that time is winding down, and if I want thing to go the way I envision I have to get moving a planning ahead. So I am officially equipped with my own planner and I'm going to work!

But I wanted to share with you all a few of the pictures that I took at the event (Atlanta Bridal Extravaganza), it was so gorgeous! And, I had a blast (and a few bridal fits...oops)!

This is the black swan table-scape isn't it amazing! My pictures are NOT doing this table justice.

The coolest thing is, they actually let you eat the candy! I would have thought it was for show only, but you could touch everything, it really showed how it would function at a real event :)

This is from when I went on the second floor I just had to get a pic of those chandeliers.

One of my favorite tables, sadly I put their card in my bag with the others, and I can't figure out which one they are...booo

This was so gorgeous in real life it reminded me of coral or something along those lines.

Lastly My fiance (in the middle) got to go in the money box!! So fun :)

So yesterday was my birthday and my fiance took me and the little bit out :) I had a really nice time and it was a nice change of pace from the everyday routine.

Also today is the last day to submit to the Valentine's Day Event, so if you were thinking about it now is the time!

Shots

Yesterday my little precious got her first set of shots, and let me just say that I think she took it better that I did.

And she actually took it pretty bad. She isn't much of a cryer and she usually is very calm but for the remainder of the day after the shots she just cried and cried if she was moved. I ended up having to place her in her car seat so she could even get some rest. It tore at my heart to see her in so much paing :'(

That is mainly why I didn't make a post I was tending to her so, I'm thinking of maybe doing another post today after to this one...

I just might be a little to excited about this but...bleh let's get past that!
So for the past few days I have been catching up on my favorite live drama aka the etsy forums (I know I'm horrible, but it's true).
I was a couple of days behind on my usual "shows" (ideas, business, and etc.) and upon my arrival what did I find but the biggest drama yet!

Etsy is apparently separating the forums into teams! Oh but that is not the good part...after hearing this the etsy community was outraged (buyers and sellers alike) and as usual they shouted their petition from the rooftops of the soon to be eliminated forums.

Well, upon accepting their bleak fate the etsy public decided to take matters into their own hands and create their own forums, the unofficial etsy forums to be exact!

Crazy right, and here is some other news...it is actually thriving without a hitch, and I'm lovin it!

Sadly this is looking like the last season of my "shows" eh oh well...

But on a more serious note I think that everyone should go take a look at the forums there it is really great and friendly, and you might make some new friends :)

So a little while back I was blessed with winning this awesome scrub from Sorella Bath Boutique off of the Life Simply Sweet Blog. Let me just say I am loving it! My sister has seriously been trying to snatch this scrub from under me :p

For one, I am absolutely in love with the smell...yay to lemony goodness. And, the scrub isn't so coarse that it irritates my skin, which is obviously a plus :)

But, I would have to say that my favorite part has to be that you can return your empty container to try out different scents for a fraction of the cost, and it is good for the environment, too awesome!

Shop Talk: Don't Depend on Others To Make It Worth Something

Too often as a handmade small business owner I find myself looking to others with the question of "what do you think" or "how do you like it."
These questions themselves aren't the problem, but rather the weight I put behind them. Everything at times rides on the response of others, sometimes even prompting me to question my craft all together.

But how can I put so much power in the hands of these "others!" Why do I let their words sway my confidence, drive, and creative process!!

Over time I have come to take that power back. I know what my work is worth to me and it can no longer be swayed by my own self-doubt.

Man! I've been racking my brain all day trying to figure out a post to make, but I have a headache out this world, and so much on my plate I just couldn't think of anything to report today (plus looking at the screen is really hurting right now).

Contrary to common belief , (mostly on my part) there is actually quite a lot that I don't know about. Like calligrams, apparently this is an art made up of several words to create an image, this skill requires patience and some serious insight.

Well, I am happy to report that I have had the privilege of virtually bumping into Joni James the esteemed artist behind this rare art form , so it would only be wise to share my findings with my awesome readers!

Pre-Preparation Prevents Poor Performance

Whew!
I'm telling you it has seriously been a looonng day. The good news is I got lots done and have really accomplished lots in the way of my goals!

And, what has really helped me is working ahead. I can't believe I never did this before (though, I have been known as the queen of procrastination) it is just so easy and makes a task go much smoother. I just wanted to let everyone know that you can expect some BIG things this year so get ready!!

In other news...I got my hair straightened for the first time after cutting it all off (yes, I buzz cut my hair after I found out I was pregnant...blasted hormones).

This is me before I got pregnant and my how my hair originally looked.

Here is me later with my hair cut (yes, all 173lbs of me) and pregnant. Man all that pregnancy weight was a blow to someone who had never been over 110lbs or in a size higher than 5.

And, here I am now with my hair straightened (not relaxed, this hair can go back to kinky with one drop of rain, believe that).

I was a bit devestated when my little one was born mainly b/c I didn't have my camera (I left it at someone's house...well the charger) and than for days as she was growing I STILL didn't get to get any pics of her!

Well, a bit back I retreved my charger and was able to take photos, and I have been hounded by my family to post some (ie. on facebook...bleh posting them here kills two birds with one stone)

Going on two months and I couldn't be happier or more tired lol

She is so active and I wonder sometimes where I find the strength to function at all in the day! But I'm enjoying be a mother so much it makes it all good...ish ;D

Right here she is 3 weeks, she had no clue what we were doing lol I can honestly say I have never seen a more expressive baby! She has a facial expression for absolutely EVERYTHING!

Which scares me a bit for when she gets older...

And here is after her bath she is such a sport, she doesn't cry or have a fit, though sometimes she puts up a fight when it comes to washing her hair lol

There is the update on that, now to get back to baby patrol...

This shop is a must see!
Let me just say that I wasn't going to make another post today, and when I saw it, I had to share it with my amazing readers right away (so that should tell you something).

Well, it happened like this...I was doing my normal crawl of etsy when I came a cross a treasury and saw this necklace.

I really didn't think much of it at the time I mean I just wanted to get a closer look at it (plus the price was pretty nice as well ;D )
But, upon visiting cheap & chic's shop page I found that everything was so nice with absolutely drool worthy prices, and I will be the first to let you know that it is expensive being stylish today!

Dearly Beloved: The Bridesmaids

I don't know if I ever told you this but, we have a date for the wedding! (Oct. 15) And, honestly that's about all we have.

But, I have been working on my bridesmaid list and now all there is left for me to do is to ask them if they will be one! I'm pretty excited!

I wanted to do something cute. I came across this on project wedding and thought it was so nice. I don't think I'll do this per-say, but I thought it was such a cute way of going about it :)

My colors are white and red (debating on a bit of yellow) so I wanted to keep the invites in that color theme.

I'll keep you all posted on the status of the invites, fingers crossed I do them soon lol

The Love Shop

I'm going to let you know point blank. I'm out of college and don't know if I'll be financially able to go back, I've never had a real job, and I've been chasing this self employment dream for too long. And, now everything is harder with a child and staying afloat in everyday.

But I have God on my side, and I lean on him heavily, because if I didn't I know my life would have caved in. And, the Lord sent me a wonderful fiancee who supports me and my dream. So I have no reason to complain. So, this year more than anything I want to let go of all of my fears and jump into what is meant for me with two feet, no more looking back or holding back.

So here are my goals this year and once every month I'm going to come back to them and check on my progress and maybe add a few more things :)

-Get Married

-Get an Apartment

-Travel out of the State

-Launch My Website

-Have More Blog Events

-Help Others

-Complain Less

-Work Ahead (AKA stop procrastinating)

-Follow through

-Meet New People

-Stay Connected / Communicate with others

-Do more with my YouTube Channel

For now this is my list, and I'm sure I'll add things later. I'm happy to just get started :) I'm sure some of these things will be harder than others, but I'm hoping that sharing this with all of you will help me to stay on track! I will be successful :D

Shop Talk: It Would Be So Easy...

With the baby now here, and with her occupying the majority of my time I could easily slip into a state of mind that gives justification to not working on my business or blog. But first of all I have taking a few to many blog breaks lol
Secondly when I stop it is much too hard to start back up. And, I am determined to get this done sometime before never lol

I want to follow through with what I have set out to do, for myself, and also for my daughter. I want to be someone she can look up to :)

Also on a side...
I would like to go ahead and give a BIG Thank You to those of you who commented on my last Shop Talk post :) Your words were very uplifting and helpful (also at times funny lol) And, I want you all to know that I truly look up to you :)

My Wish List For Baby!

My little small fry baby is going to have her first Christmas this year and I'm so excited!

We took her out for the first time last Friday, and she did so well :)
I was so happy with her that I wanted to go and get her something lol I asked her what she wanted, but all she did was look at me with her big little eyes...so we decided to get her a bouncy chair!

There are a few other things around online that I have seen that I want to get for her, so I thought I would share my baby wish list with you all :)

These little cute booties by lilalila have been under my radar for a while now, isn't the design so great! I know her little feet would look much cuter in these than they do in those little sockies!

I would just have to find an outfit to go with them...

This Prin t by Sugar Fresh would look so nice over her crib on the shelf...that plan to get...hee hee

I love little hats on her! Thank the Lord for winter, because she gets to wear them all the time...WIN!

I'm loving the Bubble Gum Pink of this beanie by Creative Dragonfly:)

This little head band by Petite Fleurs is so precious! Lace is my favorite, so of course I'm sure it's her favorite too lol

And, of course every little bitty needs a stuffed animal :) And, this little bunny by Bare Sock Crafts is so perfect...le sigh...

These are just a few things on my long list of wants for my little precious :) But I have to remember not to spoil her too rotten ;)

A little while back I was asked by Savoir Affaire Event Planning to lend my hand in helping Design A few of their events. Well, of course I snatched up the opportunity, I love designing spaces(hey, it was my major lol).

I'm happy to finally have a bit of time to share the photos of the event with you all :)

You can't really see it from this photo but there are chairs on both sides. There were different sections for manicures, pedicures, an facials. We wanted to be in a circle so that everyone could interact with one another.

This was from a somewhat corporate game night. Fun to watch believe me lol
